Born and raised in remote Soviet Siberia in the city where Tsar Nicholas I exiled Dostoevsky, Luba studied painting under exceptional Russian tutelage during an arduous era of a rapidly declining society and broken culture. Winning a beauty contest at age eighteen afforded the opportunity to escape her isolated roots—first moving from Central Asia to Central Europe, later spreading her wings and talents to the Middle East, and finally securing the opportunities and citizenship of America. Her artistic journey extended to Savannah via a scholarship from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Luba fell in love with the exceptional beauty of the city and chose to make Savannah her permanent home.
